Turn your October exhibition visits into a shortlist of products, agreed samples, and realistic production plans—with Chengji meetings in Shanghai, Shantou, and Guangzhou.

October offers overseas toy buyers a practical opportunity to compare products, meet suppliers, and explore China’s manufacturing network in one trip. Shanghai CTE, the Shantou Chenghai toy fair, and Canton Fair Phase 3 each serve a different purpose. A well-planned route can connect product discovery with factory discussions and commercial follow-up.
The best result is more concrete than a suitcase full of catalogues. Aim to leave each important meeting with a defined product shortlist, a sample action, and a date for the next decision. Three habits make the difference: book ahead, record the exact specification, and confirm what happens after the show.

1. What to Focus on at Each Show
Shanghai CTE: Discover Product Directions and Explore Metal Construction Sets
Chengji’s Shanghai schedule: October 21–24 · Booth N2A31
Use Shanghai to build a focused view of the products you want to develop or add to your range. CTE’s toy and collectible-model offering, together with the co-located licensing, baby-product and preschool exhibitions, makes it useful for comparing play concepts, presentation and category directions.[1] Plan the relevant halls rather than trying to cover every category.
At the Shanghai stop, Chengji will showcase a range of metal construction sets. These screw-and-nut assembly models give buyers several directions to explore: vehicles and aircraft, buildable flowers, and compact metal-model assortments. The right choice depends on your audience, price position, and retail format.

Metal construction sets: send us the CJ item numbers you would like to review. Request current specifications and market-specific documentation for the selected products.
For a focused appointment, send the CJ item numbers you want to review. Examples in the range include the CJ-4842774 aircraft, CJ-4306987 off-road vehicleet CJ-4923930 flower model. We can check which samples and current product details can be prepared for your visit.
Handle the components, examine the fasteners, and review how the assembly instructions guide the user. Ask about the intended age group, tools included, parts count, packaging, and available product-specific test documentation. If you are evaluating display assortments or blind-box formats, clarify the assortment mix and how the product is presented to the end customer.
Leave Shanghai with: a small group of promising models, the specifications you need confirmed, and an agreed sample plan.
Shantou Chenghai: Connect the Product With the Supply Chain
October 29–November 1 · Booth 1F-26
The Shantou fair takes place at Shantou International Exhibition Centre, bringing your sourcing trip close to the Chenghai toy manufacturing cluster.[2] The useful questions here move beyond appearance: who produces the item, which specifications are standard, what can be customised, and what production schedule is actually available?
For building toys, outdoor lines, friction-powered vehicles, educational toys or mixed gift assortments, compare the complete offer. A lower unit price may come with a different material, accessory set, retail pack or export carton. Record those differences before deciding which quotation is more competitive.
Build in time for a pre-arranged Chenghai showroom visit or a relevant factory appointment. A booth sample helps you select a product; a planned visit gives you a better opportunity to discuss production, packing and quality-control arrangements. Ask in advance which location you will visit and what you can review there.
For urgent Christmas or New Year demand, bring the required destination receiving date. Work backwards through production, inspection, freight and warehouse handling. A late-October meeting should lead to a route-specific feasibility check, especially for new custom packaging or tooling.
Leave Shantou with: a clearer supplier shortlist, a specification-based quotation and a practical view of production and delivery options.
Canton Fair Phase 3: Compare Commercial Terms on a Like-for-Like Basis
October 31–November 4 · Booths 17.1J15 and 17.1D39
Phase 3 of the 140th Canton Fair includes toys and children’s, baby, and maternity products.[3] It is a useful place to compare suppliers against the shortlist developed earlier in your trip and discuss export packing, order quantities, and follow-up.
Bring the same brief to each supplier: target market, product specification, quantity, packaging, delivery requirement, and quoted trade terms. Ask about minimum quantities for standard products and customised versions separately. A trial order or mixed assortment needs confirmation for the individual supplier and SKU.
Check the phase for your wider buying list. General gifts, festival products, and household items are listed under Canton Fair Phase 2, October 23–27. Toys are in Phase 3. If your trip combines toys with broader gift or home categories, adjust the itinerary accordingly.[3]
Leave Guangzhou with: comparable quotations, the remaining questions assigned to a named contact, and a clear next decision date.
2. Plan Around the Shantou–Guangzhou Overlap
Shantou and Canton Fair Phase 3 overlap on October 31 and November 1. You do not need to be in both cities on opening day to make the trip worthwhile. Choose your priority meetings first, then arrange the transfer around them.
One workable planning pattern is:
- October 21–24: Shanghai meetings. Review product directions and select the metal construction models worth sampling.
- October 25–28: Follow-up and travel. Use the gap for sample decisions, document requests, or confirmed showroom appointments.
- October 29–30: Shantou fair. Prioritise Chenghai supplier meetings and discuss production requirements.
- October 31: Transfer or a final Shantou appointment. Leave a realistic travel buffer instead of filling the entire day with booth meetings.
- November 1–4: Guangzhou. Visit Canton Fair Phase 3 and close the outstanding quotation and sample discussions.
This is a suggested allocation of time, not a booked itinerary. If Guangzhou appointments are fixed for October 31, move the Shantou meetings earlier. If factory visits are your priority, reserve those slots before filling the rest of your calendar.
3. Make Every Supplier Meeting Count

Book Key Meetings Three to Seven Days Ahead
Give the supplier enough information to prepare: the show and preferred time, your buying categories, destination market, order range, and any samples you want to handle. Group meetings by hall and leave space for overruns and second visits.
A short advance brief is more useful than a general request to “show us your best products.” For example: “We are reviewing metal construction sets for our gift channel. Please prepare the models on our shortlist, packaging options, quantity breaks, and available documentation for our market.”
Carry One Buying Brief and Use It Consistently
Record your target category, intended customer, budget and currency, estimated order quantity, packaging requirements and destination receiving date. Add the documents your business needs to assess the product. Use the same brief across all three shows so that quotations remain comparable.
For each shortlisted SKU, save a photograph with permission, the product code, supplier name, and booth number together. Note what the price includes: batteries or accessories, retail packaging, carton quantity, and any artwork or tooling charges. Ask for a written quotation with its validity period and trade terms.
Check the Gap Between the Display Sample and the Order
Ask whether the displayed model represents the proposed production specification or a development sample. Confirm materials, colours, components and print details, then identify which changes would affect the price or lead time.
Ask when sampling can be completed, when production could start, and how the quoted schedule depends on approvals. Separate a provisional capacity discussion from a production slot that has actually been agreed. Before ordering, match the available test reports and other documents to the selected model and target market.
End the meeting with three recorded actions: which sample or document will be sent, who will send it, and by when.
4. Follow Up Within Three Days
Treat the three-day follow-up window as a working target. Start after each important meeting, rather than waiting until the whole trip ends.
- Day 1: Organise and shortlist. Link photos, product codes, and meeting notes. Select three to five suppliers that best match the brief and identify missing information.
- Day 2: Confirm samples and quotations. Request written specifications, sample charges where applicable, dispatch arrangements, quotation validity, and an updated production estimate.
- Day 3: Agree the next decision. Set the sample review date, clarify any required changes, and confirm the conditions for order release or production scheduling.
A useful recap can be as simple as: “Please confirm the specification and quotation for these three CJ items, the sample dispatch date, the available documents, and the earliest goods-ready date after approval.” Send that recap to the responsible contact while the conversation is still fresh.
5. How Chengji Supports Your October Sourcing Trip

Chengji helps connect exhibition conversations with product selection, factory coordination, and order follow-up. Share your buying brief before travelling, and we can organise a meeting around the decisions you need to make.
- Pre-booked meetings: arrange a one-to-one discussion at the relevant show and confirm the contact and location.
- Samples and exhibition quotations: prepare suitable product options and discuss show-specific quotations, with specifications, quantities, terms and validity clearly stated.
- 2027 product planning: discuss your spring range, new-item priorities and the sample or packaging work needed before launch.
- Chenghai visits: coordinate showroom visits and relevant factory appointments around your itinerary. Ask your account manager about available Shantou pick-up arrangements.
- Shantou hotel support: help pre-registered buyers with confirmed visits apply for limited complimentary accommodation, subject to availability and confirmation.
You do not need to finalise an entire order at the booth. The immediate goal is to leave with the information and agreed actions needed to make the next buying decision confidently.
